Frequently Asked Questions

Equipment

Each player needs to have their own glove, cleats, and face mask.
Individual bats and batting helmets are optional (but recommended)

Required Documentation

Players must provide birth certificates, sign injury/illness/player safety waivers,  provide a medical release, and pay seasonal dues.

Time and Cost

Travel ball has a bigger commitment than rec ball.  Teams will practice more often and commit more time to weekend tournaments.  Practice schedules will adjust by team/season to best align to that roster.  Parents will need to prepare for tournaments lasting at least one full weekend day (occasionally both days).

LKN Krakens was established as a non-profit for the girls and to inspire the love of the game. This is a passion for those involved.  The non-profit established will not be looking to "make money" but recover costs related to running the team and tournament costs.  Fundraisers and player sponsorship are frequently offered to offset costs

The registration fees, along with fundraising efforts, include the following:

  • 2 Uniform Jerseys

  • Umpire Fees

  • Tournament Sanctions

  • Team Gate Fees *at select events

  • Field Usage Fees and ongoing Maintenance

  • League Insurance

  • Membership to our indoor facility

  • Team Pictures (not guaranteed)

  • Equipment (softballs, tees, nets)

  • Trophies/rewards

  • Bonding Events

  • Holiday Parties

  • Non-profit Operations

Is My Girl Ready?

Do They Stand Out in Rec Ball?

  • Are they one of the key players on the team? Bat at the top of the line-up?

  • For pitchers, have they pitched at least 20 games? Have several pitches they throw – change up, drop, curve, screwball, fastball, or rise ball?

  • Are they able to comfortably compete at the next age level/division?

  • Is Your Daughter Interested/Loves the Fast Pitch Game?

  • Do they often talk about their games? Sport?  Friends that play?

Is Your Daughter and Your Family Willing to Make the Time Commitment?

  • Travel Ball occasionally consumes entire weekends schedules.

  • Travel Ball fees are higher.

  • Most Travel Ball teams require players to practice two times during the week and many girls have “specialty” coaches (pitching, batting, catching, position specific, etc.).
